I've seen on the start screen that the Ranx Dreadnought has been emp-ed a couple of times. Does it make sense for a large dreadnought to be emp-ed by the emp cannon?
Now that'the information has been leaked, I can see it now, the Marauders using the Barbaries to invade Ranx space due to this flaw on the dreadnoughts.
Example:
Ranx Dreadnought emp-able

Actually, if you mod a powerful enough EMP cannon, you can EMP the Iocrym Command Ship. Only a few ships in the game are actually EMP immune. This is probably because EMP weapons are very rare, after all.

That is awesome.Drako Slyith wrote:Actually, if you mod a powerful enough EMP cannon, you can EMP the Iocrym Command Ship.

However, I guess they should be emp immune at 1.05-ish?

The Ranx Dreadnought doesn't have shields though, making it extremely vulnerable to EMP and Disruptor cannons. Maybe an armor resistance for these two things?

What version are you using?
the ICS is now IMP immune last I checked. (Unless you manually disable it via script, like an <onDamageArmor> event, but thats not using the EMP damage system)

I use 1.04. I found I could EMP it while I was testing my Pacifist mod, but that was back in 1.03, so it may have changed.

I use 1.04 too. I found this in the start screen, when it was Ranx Dreadnought VS several Stalwart v3s. Granted, the dreadnought still won in the end, but the emp was an amazing shock.

EMP is very fun on the very large targets, phobos, ranx drednought, ect.

The Ranx DN is indeed emp-able by the game's code as transuranic is level 8 and has no special emp immunity aside.
The ICS should not be emp-able, as given by " EMPDamageAdj= "0"" and the fact its level 12 armor which is well above the level 9 limit for EMP effectiveness (level 9 is where it stops working unless the armor is specifically set to be vulnerable).

Also, I just realized this was in the Ideas & Suggestions board; moving to CW.

actually, the ICS should not be EMP-able, as all level IX or higher armors are intrinsically EMP immune.
# Armor >= level VI is immune to blinding
# Armor >= level VII is immune to radiation
# Armor >= level IX is immune to EMP
# Armor >= level XI is immune to device damage

what is the difference between Blinding and EMP?digdug wrote:actually, the ICS should not be EMP-able, as all level IX or higher armors are intrinsically EMP immune.

And what is the difference between 'Ion' and 'EMP' damage of a Weapon? It confuses me, so thanks for anyone that clears that up!

Blind is where the Heliotropes shoot their ion cannons at you and your screen goes all fuzzy. EMP is where you have lightning buzzing around your ship and you spin around. Ion is the normal damage type, like thermo or laser. Ion Disrupt is the Ventari damaging your devices.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh. That explains a lot. Thanks for that!Drako Slyith wrote:Blind is where the Heliotropes shoot their ion cannons at you and your screen goes all fuzzy. I also thought Ion was the one that gave you EMP damage - are they related? Because I know teh Ares have Ion weapons but occaisionally if I get hit with shields down I will get EMP'd.
