One of my Drones unintentionally P.O.ed a Tinker station, and it was a really well defended one being in a later system.

After being attacked several times just for flying too close I resolved to do something about it. Not wanting to lose my "never destroyed friendly stations" conduct, just for fun I decided to see if it was possible to dock at the station and somehow make peace with them. But first I had to do something about that nasty gang of defenders, so I left my drones in Elysium and went back to the offended station.

I made a close pass to draw the defenders a reasonable distance from the station, then turned and killed a couple of them (getting somewhat roughed-up in the process) before retreating to let my shields regenerate and patch spiders repair my armor. I repeated this process a few times until there was only one Manticore left defending the station. When I went back to draw him away, the Manticore un-docked from the station and immediately let loose with one of those really big bombs they fire, accidentally destroying the Tinker station and blowing himself up in the process.

There was so much loot, between the station and the dead defenders, that I had to return with a freighter drone to haul it all away.

Hehehe. I wrote that in my op in Heretic. Those Manticore pilots are really a bunch of morons. Hahahhaaha. :D

Manticores are great ships....for open combat. They are not so good at defense, because they've got fragmentation weapons......sadly, we never actually see them in open combat.

...They're actually one of my favourite ships in the game, for some reason. They make good targetships as well.

I used to do that all the time, have an enemy or a friendly destroy their own station. :D

but there is a point here for a feature request as well:

the pilot was going to attempt to correct the offense......therefore if it IS AN OFFENSE : it is part of the crimes code, so therefore there should have been an opening for the player to pay a fine ; go to jail ; or get a warning just as with the the rest of the crimes :
simply banning the pilot from a station for a stray shot is sort of petty and not very .....democratic as in democracy? is that used right??

Thanks, but I'm really not that creative. I just enjoy recounting some of my less-than-brilliant escapades, making fun of myself in the process. :D

I've been following your thread. Should have paid closer attention to that part.

Yeah, it'd really liven things up if they roamed around in swarms like Hornets. :) Kinda like the old Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times"

I've done that occasionally with enemy ships (Phobos) myself, but in this case it was strictly unintentional. I was just trying to eliminate the defenders so I could dock at the station to see what would happen. :?:

I guess this means that trying to make amends was pointless? Oh well, I did pick up a lot of nice loot anyway....

Btw, Yama, did you try to dock with Sustain on? I think the tinkers would have said "docking permit denied". We really need a mechanic to earn favor back from angry stations.
Oh, and to delete, click "EDIT" and right under would be a delete post button. Look above "subject: Re: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Tinker Gatherin" when editing.

I never thought of that.

Actually the only Domina powers I've ever deliberately invoked are Ingenuity & Nebular Vision. I never have the presence of mind to use the defensive or offensive powers when I"m really in a pinch. Sometimes Sustain kicks in automatically when I'm about to die, accompanied by the "escape while you can" message, and on rare occasion I even manage to escape before it wears off. Other than that, once when I tried to type "I","E" to invoke Ingenuity, the "I" key bounced and...... Rama met his fate rather abruptly. :(

Thanks for trying, but I still can't see it. Here's a screen cap of the "Edit Post" screen on my system.

Negative , Captain: once a reply is posted you have to use the edit on screen to edit the message: if you double post and a reply is made: edit the double to say something like I do THIS : " ++EDIT, ( whatever message to hold the spot like " doubled posted because firefox thought it was cute" or see update below" )

if you are the author of the "second post or reply" you get a box to delete the post in the edit screen or you will see a circled X in the lower right of the post itself to delete.

After playing DySys + Network, I can say that I-> A is second nature
As for the sustain that kicks in sometimes, it's a passive ability called Desperate Escape.
As for deleting posts, I think we can only delete a post after a certain period of time and after that it's up to the admin :/
Here's what I see immediately after making a post and clicking edit:
