Seen your videos and have some tips:
-The suns of the sytems are safe to fly over, they will even protect you from incoming weaponsfire. Just like planets an asteroids. Don't be afraid of it!
-If you get missions they can be anywhere in the entire system, make sure you visit every planet, asteroidbelts and outerspace. Don't hang around in one location.

When you've never played the game before it can be challenging to find out what is or isn't possible. The game isn't over when you get killed. You can ressurect and go on. Only with experience you can finish the game without dying and ressurrecting. Sometimes it can even be benificial to self destruct.

So keep on playing....

Not always true. White dwarf stars have gravity, and touching a white dwarf is fatal! There is one in the Sirius system in Eternity Port.
Download and Play in 1.9 beta 1...
Drake Technologies (Alpha): More hardware for combat in parts 1 and 2!
Star Castle Arcade: Play a classic arcade game adventure, with or without more features (like powerups)!
Playership Drones: Buy or restore exotic ships to command!

Other playable mods from 1.8 and 1.7, waiting to be updated...
Godmode v3 (WIP): Dev/cheat tool compatible with D&O parts 1 or 2.

OK, I watched them. I think 2 & 3 are in the wrong order, but other than that they're a good pointer as to how someone who has /zero/ experience with this type of game approaches it :)

Why were you ignoring the onscreen hints & arrows? Too much information (to be taken in too fast while learning other systems)? No matter; I'm not criticising, just curious..

FWIW the basic flight controls are fairly easy, however you set them up. In the default system L/R arrows rotate the ship, while up/dn arrows accelerate (the latter is a hangover from the earliest release IIRC). Most ppl remap down arrow to decelerate (from the '.' period key). Set the k/b mappings as you choose for your ease of use however..

It doesn't matter how fast you're going; if you're in range of a <dockable> object - look for flashing green squares - you can dock instantly using D; very useful when you want to come to a stop at a location while travelling at speed. There's no docking charge ;)

Rotate /then/ thrust if you're flying to a certain destination; it helps a lot :)

Your ship controls work in the map as well as the local screen. If you have a faraway destination in mind by all means call up the system map, rotate as best you can to the direction of your destination, then boost

Different (default starting) ships have different flight characteristics. The omni-weapon on the freighter offsets its slow turning speed; the high agility of the Sapphire offsets its low cargo capacity, etc..

Once you've reached max speed there's no point in boosting any more, it just wastes fuel. Simply coast along (autopilot helps for time) until you want to change direction

/Explore!/, don't be afraid of dieing a few times, & keep up the videos :)

Thanks for the tips guys! I'll definitely use them in future Let's Plays. Right now I'm conserving my energy before I tackle what looks like the main part of the game. (Sort of like In DDO, where Stormreach is the main hub for the game but Korthos village is the 'noob' area?)

The next part is coming soon, though! I promise!

Pretty much. I could only really focus on one thing at a time.

As I said in Part 5 (and again in the Highlights video ;) ) I didn't want to boost because I was having trouble traveling at regular speed.

Not all (in fact only a few) red targets are needed to be destroyed. Mission guidance (those onscreen arrows) will point you towards the essentials, otherwise unless you're protecting a ship/station they're there for the loot + score

Use 'hard' stations (with a lot of defences and/or fighters) as cover, but don't get carried away: you /can/ be shot at & killed while docked, & a destroyed station deals a /lot/ of damage if you're too close - good loot though afterwards :)

Just a brief update on something I found out last night. Google (who owns Youtube) is changing their Terms of Service. now, its not confirmed yet, but I may have to disable Monetization of my entire channel...which means I'll have to find a min wage job.

What does this mean for Transcendence? well, Transcendence is one of the few videos I actually Monetize (AKA get paid for). Once again, nothing is confirmed (I just heard about it last night) so stay tuned. I'll let you know when more details arrive.

Edit: it seems the new format is optional, so I might be able to continue monitzation...Id keep playing even if the game WASNT monetized, really.

Im running out of ideas for videos though. Aside from the escort missions, what else can be done in 'Transcendence' that would be entertaining to watch? (I think I'll try to find this out myself, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas for episodes.)

In short, Im planning on continuing the series this week. stay tuned!

I havent watched your series (im glued to George's feed for now) but will do soon and provide feedback! Moreover there are many more things to do in transcendence. There are mining colony missions and i havent watched yet and so i dont know if you have completed Raisu station story. And keep escorting freighters till they give you a special mission. And keep knocking out pirate frigates! Cheers!

Hi, I'd advise you to keep going through the starsystems, many new stations, some with rougelike elements and some civs with special hidden questlines await beyond St. Kathrine's star.

Arguably, the game doesn't really begin until the arena.

Is it possible for you to upload at a higher resolution?

Otherwise thanks a lot for doing this.

I thought there was only 1 hidden questline.

There's the Huari questline, and then there's the Lamplighter. Dvalin might also count. Lastly there's the Heretic.
Yes, look at my avatar, I have a wyvera type ship.

I wouldn't call the LL hidden or Dvalin a questline. What are you referring to by "the Heretic"?

Dr. Watson, Sherlock Wolf says that the ICS and the anomaly is no less than a surprise for a first timer.

A surprise, certainly, but it's by no means hidden.

In any case, good luck with your playthrough, Dieu!
