Do you happen to know how hard it is in the beginning to have no shield?
Considering you are using reactive armor, your armor is fresh meat to the corsairs and/or any ships enemy or otherwise. The farthest I have gone is a couple of systems after Rig. I used the sapphire, and I had to make due with inferior aim and armor until I saved enough to get 4 heavy meteorsteel armors (lucky). I died to the Black Market boss (see Black Market post). The omni laser and a front heavy meteorsteel armor did help though in saving my skin.
Has anyone tried to do this?
