save korolov in charon
dock, go to the control room
it should give an error like ###(nocharacter numpiratestationsleft)### I'm not sure if that was what it was exactly... I'll get a screenshot in a few hours.

Did you dock with the station as soon as you entered the system? I did and also saved Korolov, but there were no errors after I docked again. Got the dialog to go kill the Charon bases afterward.
Perhaps there is a bug if you don't dock before the pirates attack?

I think I've got a similar, or the same, error after successfully completed the usual "repel Charon assault on this station" order.
