This has happened to me quite a few times already in version .99, where once I use the gate, I go to the next system, then crash, getting an unusable save file.

Is this happening in Version .99a as well?

That has happened to me in 098d as well- depending on the type of crash. The game doesn't use multiple saves or back ups, so you run the risk of getting a corrupted save when bad things happen.

I even had it happen to me thanks to a (starts with an N) virus scanner that insists on starting up and locking my machine up without warning.

You should update to 099a and find out, Dorne.

I've had this happen once before, but I keep an archive of .sav files each time I use a gate. Some system in .98d kept crashing me (from that save file) a certain number of seconds into it, so I'd always dash from one gate to another... That was annoying so the next time around I started doing this.

How about have the game make a new save every time you save/go through a gate etc., and have it automatically load the save file with the latest number when it starts? And have all these saves in a folder to avoid clutter.

This is technically sound for people trying to debug the program, but not so much in actual "play" mode.

But if that were introduced, it wouldn't be difficult to simply role back to your previous, uncorrupted save. That way, people that save their saves such as Wolfy won't have to do it manually.

 Just happened to me. The game crashed about 6 or 7 times over the course of an hour, before finally crashing after a stargate and I wasn't able to use the save file.

The only noticable event in my game that I think could cause the crashing was fitting a single segment of double titanium barricades to the front of my freighter. The crashing started after that.

I got another crash after I used "save" under the "esc" menu. Fortunately it seems to have saved it, nothing in the log...

i just had a WEIRD save corruption, so wierd i have never even heard of it!

i just went through the gate i just came from, and the system got re-created!

it was a complete new system! even though i just came from there!

i used my new jumpdrive to go back much farther and go forward again, and everywhere i went they were ALL new systems, i went to eridani and the game crashed.

so: the game forgot all the systems i have been to!?!?!?!

 I thought I was the only one that had happened too! But that was in 098d. And I wouldn't expect to see it in a vanilla game. Scary.

I experienced systems resetting themselves when I was tinkering with the topology in System26- when a linked gate in a system was destroyed the game seemed to prefer resetting the systems rather than saving them.

I ended up having to use objMoveTo to hide the gates far far away to get rid of the system reset bug.

Are you altering the topology? Did you delete (objDestroy) a stargate?

If not, I wonder what could be causing the bug- it's a very frustrating one!

none of the mods i am using have ANY effect on the topoloy, and the game is still packed in the tdb.

EDIT: i did however, tractor a stargate... i changed it's velocity vector despite the fact that it doesn't move... this has never been a problem other than the purple animation moving.

I believe I've fixed one major cause of game corruption in 0.99b. But if you have a corrupt save file, please send it to me (along with any mods) so that I can debug.

Send to [email protected]

Thanks!

Should we send any mods we were using? I doubt that my mods could possibly have caused it but I don't think the replay will run w/out them...
