I'm starting to notice that certain classes of ship aren't shooting at me very often, which wasn't a problem I noticed before .99b.
I'm unclear on the pattern, but I certainly noticed it fighting the Atonement ship in the Arena. I whittled it down with an omni-laser, which took forever, and I'm pretty sure it never fired a single shot the whole time.
I've noticed that one or two other classes of ship were behaving similarly, but I forget which ones. I'll start paying close attention.
Combat AI bug?
Indeed, the Tripoli in the arena fired on me, but never used its missiles, even when I stopped firing and just sat there for a bit to give it a clean shot.
Normally I recall it being pretty happy to pound away with those frag missiles - it certainly had a lot on board when I looted it.
Still haven't found a real pattern to this behavior though.

Ok, it basically seems like few if any ships are firing missiles any more.
Those that SHOULD be firing them seem to spend a lot of time maneuvering as if they were going to fire (but don't), and thus don't seem to fire their other weapons very much either.
So yeah, the missile firing AI may be altogether out of commission.
EDIT: Definitely out. Just did the Charon base attack and out of all those missile cruisers and fighters not one missile was launched. Certainly makes saving the base easy...

It was indeed related to the Arco adjustment.Periculi wrote:Must be "general niceness" bleeding over from Arco's AI adjustment.
Arco had the opposite bug: he fired missiles even if when wasn't supposed to...
Fixed in 0.99c.
