Hi all,
Noticed that sometimes. First time, was about to mail George that the site was on outage and then it came back ^-^ Annoying and better solved but not too bad once you know of it...
What annoys me more in this board is that, when ctrl-clicking on links to topic, it opens the topic on a new tab, but also on the original tab, which was not the intended result. And that is not random, it happens all the time...
Sorry Sheltem for squatting this post, I think I'll open one...
EDIT #1 :
here it is, and I linked to yours !
EDIT #2 : since 0500 GMT+1 (time I get up ^-^) this morning, I observed it's beginning to become more frequent. Now I usually have to refresh from 3 to 10 times to get a page displayed. Really becoming an annoyance

VIRUS!
Call the Virus Busters!
(Shoots viruses with Tev7)
If I may go off topic here, I'd like to tell you a story.
One day I was using my terminal and suddenly, this thing pops up, SpywareSherrif derivitave. Well, I entered into combat with the villian, smashing registry recources, vaporising files, and clearing cookies, but i never managed ti catch the fiend. Then I'm in a dark registry key, searching for some hint of my enemy. Suddenly, I see him, tampering with IE! I erased the attacker, but it was too late to save my Home Page setting. From this day on, every time I open IE, about:blank comes up.
THE END
A true story.
By the way, trying to post, view, edit, and hopefully not repost, I encountered about fifty critical errors, the "Cannot connect to database" one. Maybe there's something wrong with George's MySQL?

if this continues then we should start visiting UTF more often and whoever the administrator is (i think fossaman) should check his mail more often for registrations

Wow... You need to relax... You have issues. However, i think PHPbb is having issues... More then the Db... Unless this forums is getting a ton of hits even so it should handle it.

Hi all,
As for what I know... I have several phpBBs on my site, including one that hits around ten hundreds a day with thrice the articles in this one, and there's no problem of this kind.
The only anomaly I noticed here was the large number of users, and particularly inactive ones : 3/4 of around 1000 never posted anything. Are they genuine human lurkers or spambots defeated by another barrier farther down the road ? I don't know. On my board, I have only 1/8 of members with 0 posts on 200 members and I check spam filters every so often so I know my spam barriers are effective against bot registration.
So is there a huge bot inflow, mostly blocked but that drains the server and could explain both the errors and the high number of inactives ? Only George could tell us with the admin stats...
Noticed another thing... Most users online is 157 when it is 17 on mine. Just don't know what to do with that but it could be related... Maybe peak hours ? It's over the par with the # of users, but not with active users. Maybe after all we're a bunch of lurkers here ?
