I'm afraid this may not be enough detail to track this one down, but consider it an initial bug report...

I was docked with a destroyed ship and looting it, a couple jumps from Eridani, when the game crashed out to desktop. I wasn't running with any command line options (such as /dx) at that point.

There were some other ships around, and so I have two theories about what might have resulted in the crash, though they're just wild guesses:

1) Do AI ships ever dock with destroyed ships to loot them? If so, maybe one of them did it while I was looting, and some sort of object reference issue crashed things as we both tried to look at or take the objects.

2) Or perhaps some AI managed to destroy my ship while I was docked and looting, and that resulted in a crash in some way, though it doesn't seem that likely, as I don't think anything really dangerous was nearby.

As I'm technically beta testing, I suppose I should stop having fun with the game and try to make this happen again, at some point, so I can give you a better idea where to look :)

As far as I know, the only thing that might loot a wreck around Eridani like that would be a Salvager Nomad. I really don't have any idea what would happen if one of those docked while you were looting, or even if they can dock while you're looting. Open up that save and look for a big, roundish ship with a shiny red-brown color. Also, if you can post your save file here, George will be able to take a look at it and possibly narrow down what caused the crash.

i have docked with a wreck shortly before a nomad, trying to get the loot first, and never had a crash.

also, one time i was looting a late game station(tiakon perhaps) and it was right by the gate, so the corp cruiser looted it while i was looting, what happened? not a crash, rather all items remaining were replaced with the same thing...

Well, the save file didn't seem terribly useful, as it was from the last time I passed through a gate into the system. I'll have to make a point in the future of saving off a copy of my last save file before a crash, just in case, though...

hmm... I thought this bug was supposed to be fixed... It must be something sepparate from what was causing mine. (I had very similar errors too)
