gems of despair crashing the game

so i'm playing as a wolfen on RC3...(hi, i'm back=P)

and pretty far into the game; found a fusionfire in a ranx i killed with my ferian plasma cannon...and i want to get it installed by a CSC several systems back.

so i gem it, and this pops up: Image

o.O

any thoughts?

edit: i'd also like to mention that now i can't gate out of this system without crashing. =\ i've been confined!

maybe i can fly via sublight...=P

Thank you! The save file helps immensely.

It turns out to be a combination of 2 bugs:

1. There is a bug in which two Zoanthropes end up following each other (if Zoanthrope A is following B and C is following D, then A kill D, which makes C follow A; then C kills B which makes A follow C.)

2. When gating out, the game computes the player's followers. Unfortunately, it gets stuck in an infinite loop going through the Zoanthropes follower chain. Thus the crash.

If you kill all the zooanthropes, it might fix it (at least that's atarlost's hypothesis)

Here is how to fix the save file:

1. Run with /debug
2. Bring up the debug console (press F9)
3. Type:

Code: Select all

(objDestroy (objGetObjByID 0x693ea))

too late=P i started a new one and overwrote the old one. but i reached heretic and fractured some iocrym anyways=3
