Okay, Transcendence at a resolution of 1024x768. If my desktop is at a resolution of less that, Transcendence simply changes the resolution to 1024x768. However, if my monitor is at a resolution of greater than 1024x768, then, Trasncendence does not change the resolution but plays the game. I've done tests at various resolutions. I'll describe the results at a resolutio of 1280x1024 (the highest my monitor can display). In the opening screen, the height of the screen is not changed but the display is vertically centered with the top and bottom appearing black. However, the display is horizantally extended to display ships to a longer range. In the game, the screen size is limited to 1024x768 and the border is displayed black. However, the displays like the shields, LRS and fuel are still at the corners of the screen. This happens at various resolutions.

960x600 - Changes to 1024x768
1024x768 - No change
1088x612 - Changes to 1024x768
1152x864 - Changes to 1024x768
1280x720 - Changes to 1024x768
1280x768 - Display as described above
1280x800 - Display as described above
1280x960 - Changes to 1024x768
1280x1024 - Display as described above
I usually have my screen at 1280x1024. I don't like having to change my resolution to 1024x768 or even 1280x960 each time I play Transcendence. It messes up my desktop. And I don't like playing at 1280x1024 as the game doesn't look as good. Wouldn't it be nice if the game changed the resolution to 1024x768 without bothering about what resolution your desktop is at?
Screen resolution problems
Huh? Are you sure it doesn't just change the resolution to 1024x768? And are you sure its 1600x1400 and its not 1600x1200? The aspect ratio for your monitor is 8:7? I haven't ever heard of that. Besides, how can Transcendence fit on 1600x1400? It was made for a 4:3 monitor. Also, do the ship sizes and distances appear the same as in 1024x768 or do they look smaller and the boundaries are extended so that you can look at objects a longer distance away?Yugimotomanager wrote:The game looks great at 1600x1400 - on monitor it fits the whole screen perfectly. Very good on the eyes.
Uhh, yeah it's 1600x1200. Sorry.
Anyways, I have it running on 1600x1200 and it fits in the whole screen - everything just bigger, though. It doesn't and shouldn't extend the boundaries.
It's a bit like playing the game zoomed in a tiny bit.

Are you absolutely sure that it does NOT change the resolution to 1024x768? It seems to do so if the aspect ratio of the desktop is 4:3. Try checking by pressing the buttons on your monitor. My monitor usually shows what resolution I'm looking at.
Okay, I've finally gotten round to getting some screenshots of the game at 1280x1024. I ask again. Shouldn't the resolution be changed to 1024x768 when the game starts?

So, it looks like the game changes the resolution to 1024x768 when
1.
The desktop resolution is lesser than 1024x768
2.
There are fewer pixels than necessary on one of the axes (e.g. 1280x720)
3.
The desktop resolution is greater than 1024x768 but the aspect ratio is 4:3
It doesn't change the resolution when the desktop resolution is greater than 1024x768 but the screen's aspect ratio is not 4:3 (1280x768, 1280x800, 1280x1024)
I find it irritating to change my resolution to 1024x768 every time I play. As you can see from the screenshots, it isn't very pretty. I'd like it if the game changed the resolution to 1024x768 regardless of what resolution your desktop is at.

Hmmm...try using the /dx switch the switch back to direct X mode...and see if it works...can't do it myself, i don't have a computer anymore...wnmnkh wrote:Sorry for reviving old thread, but I have exactly same problem with OP.
My screen is 1440 x 900. It seems this game does not support widescreen ratio well. Any fix for this?
