Green Tundra's?

Twice now in seperate games I've seen Tundra-class wrecks colored friendly green instead of enemy red. Was this deliberate?
My first thought was that it was an oversight, then got to thinking that maybe someone in the Commonwealth tried to steal the ship from the Ares and retreat to friendly space but didn't make it.
Not a bad idea for a mission, BTW.

They'll be pre-created. Much like Abandoned Cargo Crates, they're green.
However, you just gave me a great idea for a new event that can happen - a trap! When you enter the crate, it gives you a countdown - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... BOOM!
The crate explodes and damages/kills you if you're still near it - the explosion would be like the Penitent station's weapon.

Any wreck with nice loot in it is artificial, and not an actual wreck. There are plenty of red loot-bearing wrecks scattered throughout the game. That's not the reason.
I'd guess that it's just an oversight. Flipped tag somewhere or other.

As Yugi says, those wrecks are generated at system-create time and filled with random loot (not necessarily appropriate loot).
Back then (pre-0.7) I don't think I had decided whether wrecks of enemy ships should show up red (because they are enemies) or green (because the wrecks are harmless).
I think, like someone else suggested, they should be some other color.

Yes yes! Wrecks of all types should be of an entirely separate category from "friend" and "foe" so that you can target friendlies without targetting wrecks, and vice-versa!
Been meaning to mention that ... however, it would require giving us a "target wreck" key. Well it's not like you're running out of keys or anything ...

I like that! I also thought of something similar, well kinda... Enter the crate and you immediately get mugged, ship sabotaged and your credit account hacked-loss of some funds. You undock to find your weapons temp dissabled (ship spinning) while a Hornet battlepod scampers from the crate heading to the nearest gate. Depending on how you're rigged and the length of the disabled effect would determine your revenge.
