 So. Fun fact about TBR. A lot of its models actually started off almost a decade ago as a project to give all of the vanilla ships 40 facings. (They used to only have 20.) I didn’t have George’s models at the time, so I literally just went and made my own. The Rho? Originally the replacement model for the CSC. A few tweaks and paint jobs later and it’s in Lambda. As for where it appears, it… currently doesn’t. It’s one of many things I still need to implement.

How come the Haentaro Union is neutral/friendly when they are outlaws, and why are they hostile to the Black Market and salvage nomads?
One time a binary system spawned with at least six salvaged nomads, and the Haentaro Union Center was right next to a Tempus Lab. They did not target the Tempus Lab, but all Molotoks, Zulus, Oromos and T-type transports were pwned by Enforcer-Class gunships. You might need to lower their patrol range if they are that close. The wrecks of the aforementioned Black Market ships littered the place like bodies, and like vultures to roadkill, the salvagers came. Another time, I got a Ironground Jurisdiction Navy ID ROM in a T-31 wreck after a chance encounter with a outlaw convoy, guarded by a bunch of Zulus. You might want to make the NotRandom or something. Also, I have not actually started from Zyr, as I prefer Velociraptor Corvettes to a Bootlegger. :)

 Yeah, Zyrran forces do need to be a bit more populous.

 Ascendants are supposed to be annoying, so I’m doing it right. ^.^

 Haetenaro are, in fact, not outlaws. They’re actually a Zyrran offshoot. They deal in illegal goods, sure, but they… disapprove, shall we say, of the Sindikat’s business practices. Also, the whole Salvager thing they’ve got going on is because they want to loot the wrecks and view the Salvagers as competition. It’s something else I still need to implement at some point.

P.P.S.: It’s sort of a tribute to a UE weapon from Escape Velocity: Override, actually. I won’t go so far as to say it’s a perfectly faithful recreation of it, but the red projectiles, short range, rate of fire, and general inaccuracy are all very much informed by my recollections of the game.

But if they deal in illegals, then they technically are outlaws. I am also pretty sure you wrote that somewhere. I assume that Haentaro do so, but with extreme moderation. After all, the dose makes the poison. I personally can't wait to see what becomes of all the relatively unused models, like the Hydra, the AES Avinity, and the Reckoning.

 I think the Osprey already shows up, albeit very rarely. The Avianity is an upgraded one that I have Ideas™ for. The Hydra is going to be a special boss fight in Kourienne at some point. The Reckoning… is purely an intro screen easter egg and has always been intended as such, heh.

I did see a Osprey once, abeit in a odd place. I saw it patrolling around the capital of the Rean kingdom, Reana. I tracked it with my targeting computer, and later, a sapiens compound was destroyed, presumably by the Osprey. It took it out like a salvager nomad against a anarchist gathering*. I thought Kourienne was the system with the time trap. And some of the Beasts ships were unarmed, but had varying shields.


*In some early TSB systems, I have seen Anarchist Gatherings go right of the map in front of my eyes. I checked them later. No loot, no ROMs, nothing...

Salvagers showing up in low level TSB systems is expected - some of those systems have the newBeyond attribute, resulting in them getting the salvagerSpace attribute. This happens in normal new beyond systems as well

I'm guessing an osprey showed up since AE is an independent corp and probably had a shop spawn in Reana, only for the sapiens order to destroy it, so it was likely sent in as a revenge spawn to take them out.

 Not necessarily. The more likely explanation is that one of my earliest experiments with random encounters involved just having an Osprey show up and with the 'wander order. It’s a veryrare encounter, I think? I’ve only seen it happen a handful of times in my own playthroughs.

 …But yeah. You were trying to bring a pile driver to a job you wanted a jackhammer for. Legion’s shields are designed specifically to frustrate the whole bigger-is-badder mindset. Anything you hit those shields with does exactly one point of damage to them. Their reaction to a +70% FusionFire is basically, “…Yes, and your point is…?” Bring something like a fast-fire laser cannon or a PK25 Morning Star or even a mining laser if you want results. (Somewhat ironically, one of the better midgame things to use against them is their own scattershot.)

So the tri-wielding dual FusionFire would lose against a peerless corvette, but my velociraptor-based "level two phobos" loadout would win!?
FYI, the Level Two Phobos loadout is
x2 rapid-fire laser cannons, each of them in the Linked-Fire turret slots
x1 PK25 morningstar.
Optional devices include a ICX defense turret or laser collimator.
