This was an idea that came up on IRC - essentially UTP would be an extension that would correct errors occuring in the XML (ie, balance errors). There would normally be two concurrent releases, one for the current stable version, at the time of this posting, that would be 1.01, and one for the current beta version, which at this time is 1.04. Generally the stable version patches are of greater priority.

It would also be nice to have a UNID slot in the official space to be reserved for this mod (Ie, 0xA000) - in which case as on official extension, it would be the Official transcendence patch ;)

Tis now official! :D

Like I said on IRC, I think this is an excellent idea, official slot or no. Of course it would be great to see it sanctioned by George ;)

I think this is a great idea.

I have no problem using a registered UNID for this, but I haven't worked out how to keep track yet (don't let that stop you, though--assume you can get one).

Also, I hope you don't mind if I steal stuff from it. If the extension truly fixes a balance problem, then I would like to incorporate it into vanilla.

i have a rough unid tracker - but it has issues detecting whether a unid is in a unid range

Better yet! :D
In fact, that is partially what the beta-patch versions seek to address & help with ;)

There probably won't be one for 1.04, because I'm going to try to get 1.01's patch out first. By that time, 1.04 will likely be superseded by 1.05.

We need a patch? I thought the game runs just fine? Exactly what is the patch going to fix? Is it just changing laser damages etc or is there something bigger?

For one thing domina powers don't recharge in 1.04. Things like that could use a patch. or the adventurer outfitters making ammo after being destroyed, or the intCorporateOnInit error when docking with a certain station (I can't remember which).

Why live with the bugs when we can fix them before the next release, and help George at the same time?

I do think that is the point of the patches, that they could be simply imported to the game to provide added features or such, and we can do a 'pull request' where we can get our work integrated into transcendence.

Sponge made a script to fix the domina powers in 1.04. I'll see about getting him to include it in here ^^

It's more of a cludge than a real fix (sry SpongeJr). I am not sure we should include things in this patch that could not eventually go into vanilla.

Didn't know till I saw his description ;)

I can write up a working script later I think... If I get time today
