I'd be glad if someone used this and reported any bugs. It is possible there could be some combination of circumstances which could even crash the game but I'm not sure if I already fixed it or not - just don't get mad if it does happen.
Mining Auton mod
I'm gonna do a similar auton which goes around, loots wrecks for valuable items, and then blasts them to pieces with a WMD weapon, say a modified short range mark V howitzer or something. The auton will be highly customizable, i.e. there will be a docking screen for setting various parameters, like how expensive an item must be (compared to its weight) to be considered 'valuable', whether to collect damaged items, and so on.
Either that, or perhaps some sort of 'janitor' ships, which occassionaly go around and blast wrecks to keep the unverse clean.
They would only destroy wrecks older than certain age...
Or maybe both?

Just was about to think about mining ships ! I think I'll draw inspiration from both of your Autons. I want to have heavy mining ships that are just vast storage hangars, surrounded by hosts of autons that mine the asteroids around and ferry the ore to their mothership.

For your comprehensive mod? In that case you'd probably want to change standard minig too... make it harder, slower, and make asteroids have more ore. Because, if you used the current settings, with like 10 autons all ore would be mined in like a couple of minutes.Mutos wrote:Hi Apemant, hi all,

Make most asteroids have ore, but let them yield ore only after some heavy shooting and just 1 ton at the time. Or make asteroids 'replenish' their ore from time to time...
BTW, for independent ships they don't need to be autons... in fact it's easier to manipulate ships which aren't autons; no need to switch back and forth from 'auton' AI to no ai at all.

Thanks for the advices ! I'll begin to see what can be done, think it out to sort all the posible ways and when I'll begin coding on the topic I'll implement something based on your mod, but taking into account your adjustments.

Actually now your idea sounds appealing to me... those giant mining ships should be dockable, and you could buy their ore from them... perhaps they could also be willing to buy some supplies, like water, food and fuel? And then there should be more options about what to do with the ore; currently you can make some fine armor with durallox and cerallox ore at tinkers - but I'm thinking about adding some more possiblities...Mutos wrote:Thanks for the advices !
