[New Mod] Bussard Reactors

I made three new reactors (45mW 90mW 120mW) that never need to be refueled. Actually, they can't be refuelled except with the magnetic scoops that pull in fissile material from the ship's environment.

It takes into account many pieces of data:
-The proximity to a star
-If the ship is on a gas giant or planet with an atmosphere
-If the ship is in a nebula
-If the ship is stopped (no fuel collected)

They cost more than a reactor of similar power and are much more massive but you never have to buy fuel again!

IIRC, you can only run out of fuel with a Bussard Funnel thingie if you STOP moving....so this sounds pretty sweet! (unless you really like basecracking with a weapon that overpowers your reactor)

Update (and shameless bump :) )

-added a 1GW version
-added 3 bussard scoops (misc device that provide the same functionality but require a separate reactor)

minor re-balancing of lots of small variables to make them more user friendly.

I suppose I should point out that the reactors cannot be refueled by any means. You cannot refuel at stations nor can you manually refuel.
They cost more, they are bigger/heavier and you have to plan ahead!
Different planets provide more fuel and stars do provide some. Nebulas are the best source.

Do they use the speed of the ship, or is the stopped/not stopped thing binary and you get the same amount of fuel going 0.01c as 1c?

I wanted to make refueling speed dependent but I couldn't find way to use the velocity vectors for comparison.
So going .01c and 1c refuel the same.
Only where you are makes a difference.
This is also make the reactors more balanced from one playership to the others.

I'm not sure how you would use it, but it could probably let speed be a factor, but with my current ship's max speed of .16 any speed dependent reactor would be a poor choice.

I would refuel the ship with the inverse proportionality to the speed of the ship itself.
That would make the device more balanced, you travel at max speed or you spend some time around a nebula for refueling.

Moreover, for higher level bussard collectors,you can make them to work at higher speeds, making them more efficient.

Um, if it's inversely proportional to speed you refuel infinitely fast when standing still and slower at higher speeds.

I'd stick to linear. The mass penalty and slot penalty are more significant for the Sapphire and Wolfen than for the EI500 so it's not unreasonable that they recieve greater benefit.

Agreed.

Updated to now take ship speed into account when refueling.
Rebalanced to make it possible to refuel on planets (they add big chunks)
reduced refuel amount from star but increased the distance of it's influence.
added randomized refuel amounts
