So I've started playing around with Transcendence again. My computer doesn't like the latest version though, :cry: , I just get the generic "Transcendence has encountered an unexpected error and I'm going to give you no useful information about the problem" error message, so I'm still using version 1.08fa (the version I was using when I got distracted with other things). Anyway, since all of my mods thus far have merely been modder's resources, they should still be usable. I'm starting this thread to link to all of my mods instead of having separate threads for each, and also to announce my next mod which I'll be posting in a day or two. Since it will likely be a long time before I ever finish Lost Empires (if ever), I'm cutting out the major parts and making them extensions of vanilla instead of being a separate adventure. The first of these extensions will focus on the extensive changes I made to the system generation tables and will include all of the new planets, asteroids, and moons I collected for Lost Empires.

OK, so today I present to you my Expanded Systems mod. The purpose of this mod is to add greater variety to the planets and systems in the game. In addition to the many changes to the system generation, this mod adds more than 50 new planet/moon types (based on the planet types from Star Control 2), over 500 image variants for both planets and moons, several new star types (including several variants of brown dwarves), more than 10 new Hydrogen Giant variants, 4 new Ringed Hydrogen Giant variants, 7 new Methane Giant variants, 10 Ringed Methane Giant variants, more than 30 new Rocky asteroid variants (including my Rotating Rocky Asteroid), 3 new asteroid types (merely for variety, they add no new types of ore), and more than 80 asteroid variants. Additionally, I have added 7 new custom systems. 6 of these are mostly random and have been added to the various Minor systems tables in the system map. The 7th is the incredibly large and complex double-binary system called Cyrannus (it's not perfect, but I'm rather proud of it). It is mostly random, unlike something like St. Katherine's Star, but is also unique and rare, and you won't encounter it in every game (only 10% chance, but I may increase the frequency based on feedback).

This is my first complete player ship, with its own armor and shield huds, as well as its own unique weapon and shield. I have tried to make it as balanced as possible while keeping it comparable yet different to the vanilla starting ships. It was made for version 1.08fa, so it only has 40 facings. Any comments about its performance ingame would be appreciated.

The Slylandro Probe is a fast, agile scout craft built by the gas giant-dwelling Slylandro. It's unique rotating hull allows its weapon to fire in any direction. It is an exploration craft. As such, it is limited to one weapon and has minimal cargo space, but can support up to 10 devices.

One thing I'd like to add to this ship would be to have lightning running over it constantly, like the visual part of the EMP effect, but I can't seem to find the graphics for that or code to trigger the EMP visual without the negative effects. I thought about adding some type of looping animated overlay, but without the EMP graphics, I'll probably have to create my own. :cry:

I tried 1.10rc2 and it gave me the same error. Unless the requirements have changed since 1.08fa, I can't imagine what the problem is. My computer hasn't been upgraded in any way. I don't have an internet connection at home, that's the only other thing I can think of that would be causing the problem, but 1.08fa still works fine, so I don't know.

Transcendence 1.3 is playable without an internet connection.
Download and Play in 1.9 beta 1...

Yeah, I didn't figure that was the problem, but since my computer hasn't been upgraded at all (neither hardware or software) since 1.08fa...I can't think of much else the problem could be other than a change in requirements. Or possibly it's no longer completely compatible with Windows XP?

Expanded Systems has been re-uploaded at 30 downloads. I fixed a problem that was preventing the new planets from showing up in systems like Eridani or St. Katherine's. Installation instructions have changed.

Initial testing reveals LE-Expanded Systems runs in 1.3, but occasionally encounters errors during system generation. In fact, these errors should be present in 1.08f as well.

LE-ExpandedSystemParts calls the "RingedWorld" table, which is normally present in tbBasicSystemParts, however, LE-ExpandedSystemParts overwrites tbBasicSystemParts, but lacks the "RingedWorld" table. This results in a call to a non-existent table, crashing the game.

This is more noticeable in 1.2+, because all systems are generated at the beginning of the game. It should still occur every so often when gating into a new system in 1.08f

To fix this, either delete the <Lookup chance="15" table="RingedWorld"/> entry or paste the following into LE-ExpandedSystemParts:

I have not encountered this error yet, but it's probably just because my test games haven't generated a Volcanic System. I'll have to make sure to do a text search of all the XMLs for references to RingedWorld.

That's great! Actually, I would've included Parallax Worlds in this but the parallax feature prevents docking and I have eventual plans for dockable planets and hopefully (if I can wrap my brain around some appropriate coding) planet-based text missions similar to those in Space Rangers 2 (look it up if you've never heard of it, it's awesome). And thanks again for testing this! :D
