I feel that dock screens are the worst part of the interface in the game. One enhancement to that we thought up on irc would be tabs. So you would have an all items tab, weapons tab, shields tab so we could select items quicker.
There is also a problem of items making tons of bulk when they have minor variations. Maybe those could be stacked and you could open a tab with all of the variants. That way you can add more variants without swamping dock screens.
Anyone else have some ideas how to improve dock screens?

Is there a way to put in filters as well? (lvl IV+, Ion, enhanced)
I would like a place to see my rank with each faction. Just the friendlies and if they have been encountered.
It gets confusing trying to remember all of them.
(Perhaps this is a call back to my RPG experience but I like to know where I sit with people.)
Another suggestion, could we agree on a standard key map for selections? How about mapping choices to numbers? I feel like a turkey pecking at the keys.
I also wouldn't mind seeing a Missions section in my ship docscreen.
If you are on a mission and get sidetracked or have to save and exit, when you come back you can check what you were supposed to be doing.

But it is standardized. If the action says "Go" then press G (or the highlighted letter). Perhaps this is just because I like typing, but I despise number keys. Interesting idea, but this would require all missions to have another descriptor. This would take some work. It can be done with the current XML and scripting though.I also wouldn't mind seeing a Missions section in my ship dockscreen.
