The new power consumption curves have problems.
Power consumption is nearly irrelevant except when it pushes you over a breakpoint.
Take for example the Dual Tev. At 60mw you can run it with a Ceratops 5T, incincible, mammoth 25, Omsk I, or Yoroi S500 with a 100 mw reactor. Barely. Add a
Push it to 70mw and you can't. There's not much difference between drawing 70 and 75. The only shield you lose on the same reactor enhanced to 120 mw is the R5. You still have no wattage to spare on the relevant enhancer.
Run on a 150NX and the only shield lost with that extra 5mw is the Nephren B700, which would be questionable in any case. Adding a particle enhancer loses the B700 to both power levels and completely removes the difference again.
The Katana went the other direction. Which is a more popular weapon?
Lots of power requirements have been changed, but none seem to consider the breakpoints. For things that consume a lot of power over time like shields and enhancers the raw values matter, but because of their intermittant use no weapon change that doesn't hit a breakpoint is going to drain enough fuel to matter.
And that leads into the Wolfen's power problems. The breakpoints are very bad early because the starting reactors are so small. 2mw is as enormous at level 2 as 5 mw is insignificant at level 7.
