Is this a bug, or is it just plain wierd?

Friendly Dwarg behemoth and me getting dug into some Polar-1s I spawned. Then I use GoC.....fly over...and see THAT. The Behemoth is at 62% condition...so it aint blowing up. It's also not getting hit by anything with that kinda hit-effect......

From my last look at the picture.....I think it's the firing graphic for the big gun going...wierd.

Anyway....

Is this some kind of graphics glitch, or is it just standard wierdness?

Definitely looks like the firing graphic. I tried to reproduce it but couldn't. Do you think you can repro it?

No. I tried....

It may be a combo of the graphic, the GoC, and the thing turning.

Definitely a bug, and weird.

I'm not sure why that would happen though. Is it still mobile? Do the artifacts follow it around? Do they rotate with the ship?

Yah. I've kept the same savegame for the last....3? 4? Versions. Just kept it and updated everything else. :P

Just adding this in with an add-on.....it may be that a specific combo is needed...of GOC activation, turning (?) and the gun firing. Which means I musta hit U + C at EXACTLY the right frame...

GOT IT!

Managed to duplicate it, finally. But NOT how I expected.


Right.....on the intro screen. Spawn a LOT of Phobos class ships, and a LOT of arks. Then push O once every second or two.....spawn more arks if you need to, or more phobos.

After a while, I noticed this glitch "flash" on SOME of the times I switch POV to the arks.

Nice work! I think I figured it out:

The muzzle flash effect doesn't update off-screen (for efficiency). If someone fires a howitzer off-screen, the muzzle flash stays until it paints--but since it only lasts 1 tick, it quickly disappears.

If the behemoth fires lots of shots off-screen, then it accumulates lots of flashes. If you happen to GoC while it is off-screen and then when you actually see it, the flashes won't disappear.

I haven't checked the code, but I think that's it. Thank you!

This is not weird enough! 8)
Once I was able to move the sun itself (in one system).
It somehow got stuck to Bobby's "A_stronger_mule_than_you" mod. :twisted:

I've only been able to get that bug with an old version of my deployable turrets (back when they were ships)

....If only stars did damage when you ran into them. Then you'd have one hell of a base & swarm buster.
