(inspired by Fossaman's post)
What would make a cool ship type would be thieves. They can dock with a ship that isn't detroyed and take some stuff (maybe up to 5 tons) and head to the nearest gate or black market (where they sell the stuff).
Think about it you leave your mule by a weapons dealer to go off to make some money and when you get back the mule is empty and the thing that you was saving for is gone.

As it stands, I don't believe that ships can trigger an event they contain in their own code when they dock, but George would know for sure.

thats why it is in bugs and brainstorms and not the shipyards
it shouldn't be hard to make it is just a different orders to make

Sounds like actual pirates, who dock and threaten people. One problem. If that code exists, wouldn't the ship dock on your ship and ROB you?

If I recall correctly, I believe I read somewhere in this forum where Salvagers used to be able to dock with the players mule and "steal" any loot in it but I'll assume that has been corrected in the updates?

Anyway, that much of the code was already written so you should be able to get that far with it. Not sure about the other stuff though.

As long as a Salvager has hold space, it will doc with cargo boxes, and I assume mule autons as well. I dropped a box with all of my military hardware from the hold so I could dock with a commonwealth station (no Military ID). While I was buying/selling, a Salvager showed up and "stole" everything. It was when I undocked, I saw the Salavager moving away from where I had dropped the box. Needless to say, it died, I got my stuff and some other items in return. I have since been very careful where I drop items.
