If in a later version we can change ships later in the game should they be more powerful than the beginning ships? I can see arguments going both ways. You don't want them to be a mandatory change and it could make it hard to balance if you have really weak ships and really strong ships going through the same spot.
You also don't want them to be the same power as the beginning ships because you get the beginning ships for free and the newer ships should take some effort in getting.

I'd like to see them as a worthy alternative or an upgrade.
Including things like more slots for devices.
When you thing along the line of upgrade you could get, e.g. a transport ship that's more agile - turns faster, speeds up faster - or has another weaponslot. Or another tradeship, with a really huge cargohold.
Think of it - your own super transporter. Hope you got escorts ^^
I'm not sure about the mandatory idea - quite frankly - why not?
Think of it - the latter systems are filled with fleets and humongous statios of unfriendlies and your browsing around in a little space-ship you started out with?
That's one thing that bothers me a little about Transcendence. The limitless upgradedability of the beginnership. I can have weaponsystems installed in a fightercraft that equal those of giant battleships/ stations?
There are a few hundred people about one of those big battleships to keep it running and here I am in my tradeship happily ploughing through everything and being Mr.Last-Minute-Hero for everyone. In all fairness - I'd think realistically I'd be toast if I stayed in the same ship I startet out in. But thats a personal opinion, I'm sure there are those who disagree.

...that's...scary. And useless...the "buying ships for wingmen". Why do that when u can buy em yourself?
>.<
I agree. Buying your wingmen their own wingmen just seems silly. Besides, if they want wingmen, i'd say "You want wingmen? Buy the damned wingmen yourself!".goat not sheep wrote:...that's...scary. And useless...the "buying ships for wingmen". Why do that when u can buy em yourself?

In that case...I suppose that's ok. But some storyline states that poeple really like their ships...like Rama.
