Field of Fire indicator for Visual Display Enhancement
I've been playing with the Freja and find it would be much easier to use if the game could display an overlay to indicate the span of the swivel. The same logic applies to the Xiphon Cannon and any other swiveling weapon and an aiming line for straight firing weapons would make long range combat with the Visual Display Upgrade easier.
Literally is the new Figuratively
Displaying firing arcs is a good idea provided the player can shut them off.

Easy (in terms of player-useability) solution: Add some options into the ship interior screen. Call it something interesting that makes sense (ship's computer? I dunno), and have the various ROMs influence what you can do with it. Add a few different styles of HUD indicator to allow for it, then choose between them. In theory that gives some potential for mods to mess around with it and add more stuff that uses it.
In fact, that'd be a good place to have fixed options for whether or not the weapons/shield/reactor HUD is visible on the map. At present I tend to turn it on and leave it on.
