8 device slots on the Sapphire?

I could see nerfing the wolfen, but the sapphire and freighter need every edge they've got.

That's the thing - in the end, winning the game boils down to combat (after earning enough funds, which can also involve combat), and the Wolfen just beats the other two options hands-down, since it can mount every weapon and shield, and more device slots usually don't make a huge difference in combat.

One mean way to nerf the Wolfen would be to disallow the use of omni weapons , since it's a gunship and should keep its business end pointed towards the enemy anyways.

Also interesting would be more devices that help in combat, such as ones that improve shields in some way (more regen, more capacity) - analogous to laser collimator, cannon accelerator, etc. This way, the freighter and the Sapphire could benefit from their additional device slots over the Wolfen.

Many Wolfen players wouldn't even notice the lack of omnis.

There are valuable nonweapon devices now, but as you say they're not varied enough.

Usually only one is applied at a time. For a few things like the flensers, smartcannon, mark I and III howitzers, and bushido laser or particle weapons you can stack two. You can never stack three on any single weapon. Most of the other devices are little use in combat.

I absolutely agree with this. More devices could allow also more diverse playstyles.
