I have heard much about the idea of stations giving hints to new commers; this idea has been put somewhat into operation in the Rigel Aurelius system. The stations on the two far corners give you hints and advice about what weapons and shields to aquire, should you wish to survive. There is also a fine examlpe of this in the Dantillion system, where a woman offers to reveal the CSC Antarctica's position to you in exchange for 10k rins. When I first played Transcendence (.98b), this station was how I first learned where the CSC Antarctica was; not that I had 10k rins to spare, I simply scoured the system until I located the ship. I believe that the idea of stations giving out hints in the game is a valuable one.
IMO the only reason no one has figured out the fabricator without spoilers is because we are too lazy to try. If we didn't have access to the XML, I think there would have been a few of us savescumming to figure it out.
Today, I told some friends online about Transcendence.....I've already given them 3 major hints so they don't get unexpected Instakills, and I suspect I'll have to give at least 4......
Really, I should have to give one or two tiny tips, and NO warnings about instakills.....

Teraton research instakill thing (Don't do Teraton Research), Slave trade instakill thing (Don't do slave trading) and The fact that you die easily if you aren't careful because armor has yet to be buffed after the shield nerf.
You'd find out the latter easily. The former are less obvious, and evil.
I don't think you really need to hint that when your armor reaches zero, you die. But I believe we all agree that insta-death is bad. If they want to mess with your ship and break things, that's OK, but don't kill the player.
Last Cause Of Death: Destroyed by Karl Svalbard's last Lucifer missile, right after I blew him up. And the crowd cheers.

Yah. I only said that the ship is a LOT more fragile than people think, since shields were nerfed.
Insta-kill is ALWAYS bad......you might as well just have Random reactor accidents that blow you up....they make about as much sense as some of the instakills in the game currently.
