It would be cool if we could watch movies (showing scripted events that the player isn't near) at stations showing current events, documentaries, and tutorials. That way the universe would seem much more alive with history and current events (show some random groups fighting or a scripted battle). You can use it to show about mysteries like halo races objects and domina powers without having to worry about them being used in a dynamic environment. (you can even put ads for weapons before the movie starts)

You can also use it to show tutorials to beginning pilots like how to refuel, loot, and even more advanced things like hotkeys.

If the capability for movies would be put in then mod makers could even put in cutscenes showing the story without presenting the player with a wall of text (not that you can do that now).
