So I was reading in the OT forum about the stroylines that a post-heretic game might have. Most people agree that you either must have no humans, or have humans somehow slowly come from the heretic gate, since they couldn't have been there before the gate was opened. I wanted to suggest a storyline that would let you have humans in post heretic space:
Humans knew where the first post-heretic star system was before the gate was closed: at the time the gate was open and the Iocrym were being nice to us. So what if, faced with a closed gate, the commonwealth decided to go the long way? equip a fast ship, point it toward the star in question, and drive several hundred light years the hard way? If they had access to jumpdrives, they could wire up a ship that used five jumpdrives in tandem, so 4 jumpdrives can recharge while 1 is firing, and thus they could have flown faster than light speed with known human/alien technology. Maybe when our character steps through the gate, he meets up with humans who have just yesterday finished a 100 year, 3 generation trip only to find that somebody managed to open the gate and make it all a moot point.

Hmm... maybe the mikono can rise again? George was thinking of using the mikono as a wreck of an old-fashioned starship. maybe it doesn't need to be a wreck afterall. Bit small for the job though... I was thinking this would be a 256x256 ship at least
