Hmm...nigh-endless reinforcements?

So, I just sat for about two minutes and watched at least a hundred corsairs come out of a stargate. Every one got blown up by a black market station about two seconds later, to be replaced by another coming through the gate. I've got a save partway through the lemming-event, if you want it. Let me know, and I'll email it to you.

EDIT: In the course of further exploration of the system, I found a Charon frigate on the course the corsairs were taking. As the whole process looked to be repeating with vikings this time, I decided to blow it up.

I wonder what AI code could be placed there to prevent that kind of behavior...

Cooldown period before sending more reinforcements, or a hard cap on the number of reinforcements. I'd go for the cooldown, myself.

I would not send reinforcements from the same gate over and over.
If both fail see who is killing them and send out a task force to kill and loot the killer. (if they have a reasonable chance of killing it)

Hah. I don't think they would, in this case. BM station and a Korolov right on the gate.

Anyway, I think that something about the Frigate's code was causing the reinforcements like that. I don't remember regular stations having this problem.

-send reinforcements from the other gate

-mark the troublesome station and make the new reinforcements pass a 100ls more distant

- Add a middle point in the path of the reinforcements, that is not on a line with the gate and destination.

LOL I've had that happen /w dwarg and hauri and ares before, but never corsairs! :lol:
