Korolov is Cool!

All the new freighters (with AI escorts), the missions and the new ranking system is absolutely awesome!

This brings new life into wanting to run those missions, but...
Korolov has now become a wee bit overcrowded and no docking ports are available at times. A slight hindrance to a player having a fuel-hog ship while waiting for a free port and it could detour the player from even running those missions at all.

This got me thinking; We now have other ships escorting freighters and that puts a lot more feel of realism (as a game can be) into the Korolov atmosphere. So what about having random pirate attacks on those escorted freighters as well?

Advantages I see are;
1) adds more realism and eye candy
2) possible to free more docking ports if freighter gets destroyed
3) If implemented, player could assist in fending off those pirates and get credit for any kill.

Which brings up another idea;
What about having the Korolov stats list the amount of pirate ships the player killed during escort missions?

Cool ideas!

I particularly like the idea of getting credit for helping out other escorts.

:D I created a mod that had higher level korolev stations for .98d and you'd be escorting aruchos and scarabs, but I also scripted in encounters for pirates which would:
a) gate in w/ korolev ships & attack them
b) gate in and attempt to attack the station
c) gate in and wander around

No rewards though at the time...

Oh, there should also be a big reward for saving the charon korolev station. Also, no other korolev stations should ever be there either...
Can you add some of the new frieghters to the charon korolev?
