George, is it just me or is the Holochroal armor rather overpowered? It's 200HP, particle-reflectin and ion-reflecting! Now that's just ridiculous.

Yeah, probably.

Yeah, it might end up being overpowered.

The main trade-off right now is that it is heavy--12 tons per segment. The only ship able to use it is the freighter. And even then, its going to make the freighter feel even more sluggish than normal.

True the armor is pretty powerful. But I reckon that its pretty rare. In the game ive played, I only came across 4 segments of it throughout the entire game (Thankfully just enough :P)

But I suppose it might be too powerful and the weight not a big enough of a drawback.

I mean, throughout that runthrough I would have opportunities to install I think Octo-Carbide or some such which was level X. But with the Dwarg Holochroal (Which I believe is aa bit lower on the level scale) there was really no incentive to.

I use the Holocroal in every game I play and this is my outake of the armor;
The Ranx Dreadnaught chews the Holocroal armor up in a matter of seconds and the Iocrym in less time, like...immediately. The Gaian processor can take it down pretty fast as well as Ares turrets, Ares micro nukes, Teraton turrets, Ringers cannons and even Ferian plasma torches. But as for most other weapon types like particle, blast, Ion and even some lower damage-rated thermo, they do struggle a bit to wear that armor down.

For a level VIII armor (which at that level is infested with Ares and Ranx), I'd say its well balanced as it has advantages and disadvantages overall.

If the armor is not found in stores or as loot perks, try killing a Dwarg Behemoth.

Thats true, while I never did have any trouble really with the Ares. The others are pretty effective at chewing up the armor (Even when you apply Orthosteel Nanos to them). Especially the damn Ranx Dreadnoughts ><. So I suppose in all reality it is balanced. Although I dont believe ive ever encountered a Dwarg Behemoth.

I've run into Behemoths, even had a pair of them following at one point.

I always try to get the holochroal armor when playing freighter games. I can't always get 4 segments; but I'd take it over any other armor.

But you have to think: Transuranic is only lvl8 and it has 350hp. I know you can't use it, but your enemies can; and it has fantastic resistances.

And at one more level your looking at 800hp armor (p1000 hexphase)

I'm really looking forward to the time when you can get hierosteel, or better, and have to fight things that make the Iocrym Command look like a matchbox car. :P

Oh yeah ^_^, thatll be epic.

You cant use Transuranic armor though? I thought it could be salvaged from a Ranx Dreadnought? Or am I mistaken?

Only the freighter is capable of using Transuranic armor--it being the mass of 20 tons each segment. The other two player ships cannot support it. And I agree, its resistances are incredible, which makes it extremely hard to kill that dreaded 'nought!

The Holochroal armor weighs in at 12 tons per segment so again, only the freighter can support it as well. And I have killed Behemoths with using only an omni turbolaser--enhanced 25% and with a laser collimator installed. My omni Ion blaster couldn't hardly penetrate it with all that Ion reflective coating. Took forever with the turbolaser, but the reward was well worth the long, drawn-out battle.

EDIT: Correction, Holochroal armor is level 7, not 8. Sorry.

What is the Transuranic armor resistant to? And also, is there a way to stop it from degrading?

Transuranic Armor rundown:

HP: 350
Damage Adjustments:
laser: 4%
kinetic: 4%
particle: 25%
blast: 14%
ion: 80%
thermo: 60%
positron: 100%
plasma: 100%
antimatter: 100%
dark acid: 125%

i.e. lasers damage is reduced to 4% of its original value

Decay rate: 1 HP / 6 seconds

Typically, if a ship has two patch spiders installed (each heal 1 HP / 6.67 seconds), the decay is countered and the armor while repair at an average rate of 1 HP / 7.5 seconds.

Hmm, I wonder if next round through if I should use the Trans-Uranic armor instead of the Dwarg Holochroal, especially if I add the Orthosteel nano's to it. +50% HP ^_^.

Which would be about 525 HP per segment!
