I believe that I found a viable bug in the ending of the game: here you are, a lone pilot that has wasted every enemy that dared to into sensor range; or dared to exist. You have defeated the Iocrym Commandship, and activated the Heretic Stargate. Breathlessly you wait to see what happens next; only to be greeted by a scene with an explosion on one side, and your eulogy on the other! Now fellows, what is with this gag? There are no more enemies, and the gate is functioning fine; so what kills you - a rift in the wormhole? Instead of hearing that you never reached the core, why not say that your journey is just beginning; then you would have some hope of completing the journey. As it stands, the endgame leaves you wondering: "what's the point; I did all of this work only to be told that I never reached the core - and I'm not able to do anything about it?! So fellows, we need to ask George and the community at large for a better temporary ending. Comments welcome.
Well, he saw it. Unless of course he didn't actually read the text on the screen. I've "won" the game a few times, and I know that there is no text saying that you died, as of version 97b, the last version I actually played with.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

I too have encountered the 'end game' bug in both straight (unmodded) and my various tweaker and so-called 'god-mods'. It was very consistent for me, everytime I activated the gate, then undocked and 'G'ated thru, it would immediately go to the 'game over' screen, and the text would start with just my character's name, a space, then a period, and then list the usual stats you get after dieing.
Sassinak . Sassinak visted X systems, blah blah, including an Iocrym Command Ship, etc etc

Uh, no, it's supposed to tell you how you died (if you were killed) or that you made it beyond the Heretic gate. There is supposed to be *something* in between your char's name and that period. EG 'killed by a glitch in the Heretic gate code' or some such. I can tell it's a glitch because the 'vanilla' message stats say I killed the Iocryn ship, but no 'end-game=success' message.

OK, i see what you mean. I missed that part. It looks like there is a variable, aEpitaph that is set by the <OnEndGame> event, which has a glitch. This would indeed seems like a bug. The variable is not defined elsewhere, so it comes from the inner game, not from the xmlCygnus.X1 wrote:There is supposed to be *something* in between your char's name and that period.
