In the intro screen, where we select our ships...
can we make the "device slot" descriptor more specific?

i mean, according to the start screen, there's 7 slots of expansion for the freighter, but only one for weapon...but since the freighter can have 2 weapons, i'm assuming that each ship has one weapons slot by default.
Also, do shields count as a device?

does this mean that, for example, a wolfen has 6 device slots in total? (5 as expansion, 3 for devices)

Last game i had 4 weapons installed, a shield, a cargo expander, and another miscellaneous device...which makes 7 devices total. (not a patch spider). Does that mean that shields don't take up device slots?

o.O

could someone clarify for me? =P

It only lists open slots, so one open weapon slot does not count the one that has an omni laser pre-installed. Same for the Wolfen listing having 3 nonweapon slots available instead of 4 because one has the shield.

the select screen looks only at unoccupied slots; reactor, shield, devices and weapons all require a slot. default starting reactors do not as they are built into the ship.

I felt really bad that it took me a year to figure this out, but you're from 2006 and you didn't know.

I definitely think that the ship selector screen should be a little more clear that it is only referring to unoccupied device slots.
