When you gate into a new system, if there are enemies nearby, your wingmen (Rama, Jenna, etc) will gate in after you and immediately sit and start shooting. And they'll keep shooting until you're blow'd up.
I suggest that on entry into a new system, wingmen are forced to move before firing.
