I recently got Transcendence for my netbook, and I can't read the bottom or the top of the page. Fortunately I've already played the game so there wasn't much trouble figuring out what's what.
The screen is very small, 1024 by 600 Px, so I doubt it common.
That's about all.

Transcendence runs in 1024x768.

Try some command line switches and see if it gets better:

Funny, I ran Transcendence 1.01 off my portable hard disk on a computer that had two 1680x1050 monitors and it automatically expanded to fit the first monitor. I didn't investigate beyond the main menu, though.

The main menu scales, but not the game screen itself.

the game 'window' will expand however the game / starfield its self will stay the same size and occupy only one monitor.
