System regeneration / save corruption

Game version 1.03

Far in the late game, something happened, I have no idea what, and now when I backtrack the systems are populated from scratch as if I was never there.


Then in heretic I destroyed the ics, and went to check the event log (part of captains log) and the game crashed to desktop, now (in a backup copy of the save before the crash, my game launcher doubles as a savescum helper, so my score isn't trashed over a crash) I have an "exception in item; arg= (a 6)" on a data field in the last event logged, when it doesn't crash. that piece of data is, or is supposed to be, unvGetTick. on a new game it works fine. Perhaps the error is connected to the corrupted save?

The event log suggests the corruption happened near or in sanctuary since the last entry before the error takes hold is "entered sanctuary", but this is likely misleading due to the sorting error.

Around the same time my open firefox window lost its aero effect (Win 7), though it has done that before without any other consequences, probably as a result of my virtual desktop manager. I don't think it's related but it might be if my computer has a memory issue, it is running on a post-hibernate session.

I've seen regenerating systems only once befor pop up as a bug; either early in .99 or early in the 1.0 RC's

The firefox issue happens to me all the time, pre & post hibernation on win7, though I am using the beta version (firefox 4, beta 5 as of today)
