I don't exactly know how this happened but I docked with the first CSC I found - the Sahara and donated a ton of medical supplies I was saving, when I went to the bridge I got a Ares Campaign Ribbon? Does this normally happen?
Last time I played this far I got the captain talking to me not getting awards.
Did I really just get Privateer?

You can even miss out on the Ares Campaign ribbon by donating so much you get enough XP for two ranks at once (in 1.03), as it is presented only upon achieving the first fleet rank (your militia rank has no bearing).
Happened to me when I was going for the Plasma Shield first. Eventually got the Ares campaign ribbon off a wreck. RNG win.

That sounds like a bug to me.
