I've posted before and mentioned this, but I want to say that I really miss the Rad cloud from pre-1.01 Heretic. and that feeling of suspense and emptiness one feels when one enters Heretic for the first time.

In 1.01, There are a bunch of scientists and researchers Who offer missions on studying the Iocrym. But That isn't any fun; in fact, the only baddies in Heretic are Xenophobes, Iocrym, and the Huygens(powerful baddies, but very few in number. I personally think that Heretic would be a warzone: CW vs. Ares vs. Xenos vs. Iocrym vs. Teratons vs. ringers, all trying to get out of the QZ, and or keep the everybody else inside the QZ.)

Also, There is a General lack of Radiation Clouds. I suggest that Heretic is simply the Prelude to a large System with an enormous star and Far Planet. this system would have a High-Density Radiation Cloud at the Starting Gate, and the ICS gaurding the Outbound Gate, similar to the original Heretic. this last system would be named by the player, whatever they want.(being a new system discovered by the player.)

Sure, there should be a suspensful fight in Heretic against the Iocrym, but the ICS itself should be in the latter system, as a failsafe in case the Humans break out.

This is my personal opinion, and I'd love to here you guys' comments on this.

Maybe there can be Heretic, and then a system just after that with the ICS (Which would be Empty and contain just the ICS, and random spatterings of radiation clouds)?

...perhaps also a ton of (empty or otherwise) wrecks of failed pilgrims who have come before?

That literally* impenetrable bubble of space warping you need Kate Morgenthal and a bunch of research ROMs to deactivate? That's not some brand new thing to stop you. That's been stopping pilgrims since the beginning.

I'm not sure where the original complaint is coming from either. He wants an empty system, but also complains about not enough enemies.

@Wolfy: that's exactly what I said.

@Atarlost: I want heretic to have many enemies, and the system after to have just one. I don't see any contradiction there. :?

Sorta like a Big Bad zone, or Boss room, and then a sort of gathering of the toughest enemies right before it.

I'm not sure if the research base would fit because the Icocrym (as it seems) are tinkering with the ships - the base would be an easier target.
