Getting further into the game now, but a few things make me scratch my head. Any help appreciated.

1. I've seen a lot of military stations now, but none of them will give me the time of day. Is this normal? I've heard you need a "tough" reputation to join up, but I beat the Arena and did the Charon revenge so I should have that. I have the visual upgrade too.

2. I did one quest for the Black Market a while back, but even now that they made me a Member they won't give me any more. Seems odd.

3. Rins -- I know you can sell ores to the stations to get some, but is there an efficient way to convert Credits over? I could go back and buy up ores and military stuff from Credit-using stations. It would take a while, but I have something upwards of 500,000 cred so maybe it would be worth it.

Thanks for reading, and keep in mind that I am open to all spoilers and most exploits. The faster I get through this addictive game, the better my GPA for this semester will be. :)

1. The military stations will only trade with you when you are a member of the military, i.e. after you have done at least one mission. After the first mission, you will have a military ID card, and access to the armory (ability to buy weapons). You need to do missions for the fortresses before you can do missions for the floating commonwealth stations later on.

2. once you're a member, no more quests for you. as you probably alrfeady know, get a smuggler's cargo hold, buy drugs, sell them at the Victiorian club in commonwelth stations.

3. You've got the general idea. Ringers buy ore and crystals (like crystalized uranium), teratons buy weapons and Green Death cubes. You *could* find a trader outpost and order a bunch of a partiucular ore, but that's expensive.

best is probably to buy weapons and sell them to teraton.

Huh, even weirder. In Point Juno system I ran across a big fleet of Ares ships and blew them up, and when I killed the leader I got a "Mission Complete" message (without ever receiving a mission, to my knowledge) and a pointer toward the Point Juno base. But the base still won't talk to me.

you have to be pretty high in the ranks(of the fleet, not the militia) to get into point juno.

Saving Point Juno is a mission that you receive as soon as you enter the system, I believe.

not really. It is a mission that *starts* as soon as you enter the system, but you can't really get involved in it until you dock and receive your orders at Point Juno.

My experience is that the mission (the huge cloud of ares ships attacking point juno station) starts when you warp in. If you have high enough rank and you go to port juno station, they will ask for your help, and if they survive, the mission is complete. If you leave the point juno system, everything freezes until you re-enter point Juno (so you can leave, get rank, then re-enter). If the PJ station dies, or beats the bad guys by themselves, you get nothing.

So how do I get my first mission?

Supposedly, you should be able to get a mission now. We're talking about going to a commonwealth fortress (non-mobile station with no weapons) and getting a mission. If you can't then you haven't done the things you say you've done (the game didn't record it or something). did you finish the arena (ie, did you kill the tripoli ship and go back and collect your money)? Did you complete the charon mission (ie, did you see charon station die, then get a pirate map from a dying guy on the station, then kill all the pirates, then go back and get a reward from the guy rebuilding the station)?

You get no marker on your record if you don't go back and collect the reward. If that doesn't help, you can also get the "toughness" marker by completing all the Korolov escort missions, or (I think) by turning in a large number of slave coffins to a commonwealth station.

I'm certain I got the reward from Charon, and almost certain I did everything for the Arena. Huh.

*Spoilers*

Assuming you've already completed the BAM and/or Korolov escort missions..

Just backtrack through all the systems, checking each one for a Commonwealth Fortress. Find one and dock with it and then go to the Command Center. There is where you should be able to receive your first mission that will give you the Mil ID if you're successful. You may proceed with the following missions there if you like, but they're not mandatory. You will gain Militia rank, token medals and possible wingmen, however.

Find Hospital CSC's and donate meds to gain Commonwealth rank.
Find Military CSC's and accept missions to gain Commonwealth rank if successful.

Then go back to Point Juno once you've gained Commonwealth rank.
