With the new dynamic prices in stations my old hoarding playstyle is completely gone and I'm having more trouble to get some money, in particular in the first systems.
I like the new way very much, but I was wondering how you other guys compensated this.

I've taken to using mining for a system or two, making about 20-30K off of it. At that point I get bored, but have enough capital to clean out any black markets or ice farms I run across. Making sure you clean out systems entirely also helps.

Even so, if you don't run into very many trade route stations, you could be in trouble. I haven't played enough games to be sure, though.

blow up BM stations, works every time. Have the Molotoks improved recently or am I just lacking my Katana?

That is an exploit though. If I didn't do that, I would probably resort to mining.

I've found that with the new economy, it's best not to sell anything until you've cleaned a few systems completely. By then, you should have enough junk to sell, plenty of places to sell it and, sell it all at once so you don't get the denial or lowered prices the second time around.

My current game, I'm around 250K after mopping up St. K's. Not too bad.

Addit; Also, it's now wise to check the stations first to see if they have the same items you're trying to sell. The more they have of the same, the less they'll pay or will not be interested in buying. Only sell what they don't have and save the rest of your junk for another station. Mules help here for sure, if you can find them early game.

Mining is so boring. Letting my enemies try to hit me with a mining laser and instead finding gold for me is more amusing :D .

I can never seem to amass alot of wealth, so I just let my enemies destroy certain stations, then take the profit. There was a fight between a black market shipyard and a huari fortress. Lots of loot is to be found. Otherwise I just fight and pillage wherever I go.

Also, what I find is that if you save enough items before you sell, the amound of money you get is more than if you had sold numerous times. This goes for farming.

I took a look at how the prices are being adjusted.

It's kind of funny. It doesn't track the system you are in, or give any type of preferences to type- except in the <trade> elements of some stations, which was also used in 098d.

Stations don't adjust according to number of times you have sold to them, from what I have seen in the xml. They don't track the number of times you have come and sold them things.

The price drop and eventual denial is based on (oh, this is a spoiler!)

The number of items appearing defined in the item type and the number of items on hand in the station. So, if the station has less than the average number appearing you get the good price- as the amount of items the station has on hand increases the price drops, after a certain point the station is overly stocked with an item and sets the price they will pay to 0, which gives you the Not Interested message.

FAD has it right- sell all at once in a station that doesn't have the item you want to sell.
You may have found an exploit by selling all at once- you are getting the price they offer based on the stock at hand- so if you sell them all at once, you get a set price for them. If you sell in parts, the amount they offer is adjusted between each sale.

Yeah, i noticed that, unfortunately the maximum number of items to sell is limited by the cargo of the ship, it would be amusing to sell by docking together with the mule auton :)

Besides destroying friendly stations, my other 2 common money boosting gamestyles do not work anymore. (salvager titanium barricade exploit for example)

However I think I found an exploit, I have to try it some more and see if it's really profitable.

Would buying all the items increase the price you offer for the same item?

Buying all items would set the price to the normal value.

What do you think about the endless stream of spawns ?

What about modding wandering spawns which dont attack the player directly ?

Then if the amount you are selling is much greater than the amount the station is selling, it's worth it to buy the stock, the sell everything at once?

so the price adjustements are only by lowering them when you sell, ok.

It seems that my little exploit works, basically it's farming on the new korolov's freighters:
- find a couple of corsairs and make them follow you.
- go over the korolov and all the freighters and ships will leave the station
- quickly destroy all the freighters leaving for the stargate.
- wait patiently for the korolov station to summon new freighters
- destroy every freighter that gates in, when you destroy it, another one will gate in 10-15 secs.

I've got an armor dealer and commonwealth station nearby where to sell the loot.
I've got nearly 30000 in 15 mins, before I had 430 (I told you I was completely broke  )

Korolov should kill you for that (and thus the entire CW too).
