Heretic Gate (Contains Spoiler)

In heretic system, i use black rod (taken from iocrym command ship near the gate) to activate the heretic gate and when i get in to it the whole game just ended, and when i see the high score table there is no COD (cause of death) it just say the ship name and time of playing. is it a bug or do i use the wrong key to activate the heretic gate? :?
