Having some devices to protect against this stuff would be nice.

At the moment, however, I'm thinking that if something is annoying enough that higher level armors have to provide an automatic immunity to it (which incidentally I didn't know about because nothing in the game tells me these things), then there's something wrong with these features in the first place.

well, the radiation immunity really was put into place to stop player exploits, like one shotting the antarctca with an actnide, though imo, it was only the hexphase armors that technically needed it; 150, 450 for consistency, 1300 for the exploit.

Why don't they just change the radiation effect instead of making everything immune to it? If radiation is causing problems, just change it to something non-lethal, perhaps similar to a standard RPG-esque poison effect that damages your ship gradually for an extended period of time. Players will still have an incentive to get it removed, but it won't be fatal unless it drains your armor to 0, which is very unlikely for large ships like CSCs.

Or just make hexphase immune while leaving other armors vulnerable.

XD that was my original suggestion to george...
Thing is, though, that this immunity doesn't actually hurt (for radiation), because by the time that you get those higher level armors, you're usually just passing the areas infested with sapiens, thus mitigating the actual effect that this has on anything else. So in vanilla, it is harmless. Not so for mods however, as a mod adding a high-level rad. weapon will find it useless.
