Okay, so I want you all to post the best challenge game you've ever attempted.

Using these two mods:

makes the game impossibly hard. I haven't made it to St K's quite yet, but I'm also doing a no-resurrect game.

But I have a craving for more challenge. What have you done?

What about a mod to make everyone an enemy? It would require a way to install/uninstall equipment yourself but shouldn't be too hard. The biggest challenge would probably be keeping your reactor fueled up without any stations to help.

That was fun. :D

Have you tried pacifist? No destroying anything but the ICS.

That would be very difficult, indeed.
You could have an overlay placed on all enemies to negate any damage to them caused by the player. You would have to allow installing weapons because mining would become the major source of income. Trade routes are available and scavenging but no Korolov missions, Military, really almost all missions require destroying something. EMP weapons would be necessary and drawing enemies to friendly strongholds. Autons would be almost necessary to deal with those random encounters that auto target you. This might be really fun now that I think of it!

I gave it a try with the Freighter, just trying not to hit anything. 'Twas fun, but I got blasted by a Viking, and I never do ressurects on challenge games.

I cannot imagine how to do it without some kills in Heretic.

perhaps it should be interpreted "no destroying anything of human descent." anything Iocrym or possibly pteravore (luminous? they are AIs) is excluded.

I knew I should have bought insurance and transuranic, but noooo, I'm too good to lose vs the ICS. I can't fail! I'm not trying this conduct again. Any other suggestions?

What about some ideas for a full mod to make the game harder?

Modify the systems so there are only a few safe zones, Eridani, Rigel Aurelius, St. Kats, and Eta Ceti. Heretic would remain unchanged. Every other system is entirely hostile. In addition, the enemy station hitpoints would be multiplied by x3-x5.
This might favor playerships with larger cargo capacity to haul loot back to the safe zones and to carry more ammo (which typically has higher WMD needed for basecracking). Not sure what else should be changed, but it might be fun?!
