Well Ive been playing transcendence when I can for the last month, neat little indie game.
Anyway, Im about 6 or 7 systems past St. K's and I seem to have run into a few problems, first, - Ive got too much junk.
My wolfen and a mule auton is full of stuff and I can't seem to find places that will buy it where I am at. It seems like at St. K's I didnt have a problem selling anything between Arcadia and the Tinkers. The Tinker stations seem to not come up at all anymore, so in order to sell damaged stuff I have to backtrack a lot. Do they just stop appearing a few systems after St. K's?
I'm in Ki Xymiir (sp?), and Ive got a mIII howitzer, tritium cannon, and an ion cannon. I feel like my weapons are a little weak, but I cant seem to find better drops or station items. What weapons should I be aiming to get? I should say though I havent cleared out the last couple of systems before this, I just wanted to see what was ahead.
Other than that I think Im doing ok, Ive got Ithalium armor and a plasma shield.

Yay! so you were a real user afterall
(I was looking through the member list and searching for possibly legitimate users in the mass of bot registrations earlier today)
When you say Ion cannon, do you mean the one that does EMP, or the ion blaster, which actually does damage?

Hi fortisvir, welcome to Transcendence!
Your current equipment sounds decent for where you are. Make sure your reactor can support any new/additional equipment BEFORE you buy it as that is an easy pitfall to quickly end a game that was otherwise going well.
Tinkers (and all other stations) have an associated level they will spawn at, so they will stop showing up and new stations will appear. Damaged equipment is pretty much useless junk now (except for a very few exceptions) so I would toss it out the nearest hatch.
You'll start encountering the Teratons and Ringers so you'll need to get some RINs or else just use what equipment you can scavenge/loot. There are a few forum threads on how to get rins.

Wolfy - Ive got an ion blaster that was a drop from a luminous drone. Seems to work real well.
So no more tinkers huh? Ah well, I was making a good bit of change selling damaged equipment. Especially the reactors that the Huron destroyers always seem to drop. If its just slowin me down though I guess I can get rid of it.
Another thing is - does the "howitzer" designation mean a weapon will be long range? Ive noticed that there are thermo cannons with the howitzer label for sale, but I dont want to buy them if their range is about what my tritium cannon is. Im definitely a fan of bombarding stations from long range so thats why Im interested but right now I use the mkIII for that.
And the Ventari, sheesh I'm learning to stay away from these guys for now.

Ventari cannot damage your stuff if you have a full set of ion-effect resistant armor, like hexacarbide (quadro & octo also work)
Also, in 1.04 and beyond (I think), george is implementing a suggestion I made to replace the permanent device damage with temporary device disruption

Welcome fortisvir! The answer to your question is "yes".fortisvir wrote: Another thing is - does the "howitzer" designation mean a weapon will be long range? I checked out the source code for Howitzers and they all seem to have a lifetime of "120" (that's not seconds, it's a custom time-measurement), rather than, say 60 or so for a Tev9.
Basically that means the projectile will "live" for much longer before vanishing, so you can bomb stations from long range.
Personally, I like the FusionFire howitzer, if you can get that.
