when you se the sphere, it brings both you and any ship near you up to 99% damage. It seems like a bad thing, but vs. single, large targets, it is very helpful. If you're using the player stations mod, then you have to find a station that sells the stations in the later game. Then use it where you want to put it.

Hi all!
I'm stuck at the battle to save the Antartica- I have tried 26 times now with no success. Is there some sort of a trick to blowing up the attacking cruisers before they blow up the Antartica that I don't know about?
Any advice would be welcome! I keep getting my arse handed to me by one or more of the cruisers that attack.

You don't actually have to save it. I let it die, then I get to be liked by the CSC Terra, with all the benefits.

Yes that is true but then there is no challenge to it. I mean if you have made it to the heretic system and got a fracture cannon all you have to do is get a luminous particle shield and hang back behind the CSC untill it is destroyed.
All you really get out of it (powerful yes) 1 weapon from the terra. That little weapon is not gonna save you from mr phobos, especially if you have inadiquite shields and armour.
You will still run like a little girl to the nearest ringer shipyard.
Now if you save the csc you get a gem that can save you from that fate and if you destroy the sung and save the hurai you get another anti-matter weapon thats even more powerful. So in the end i guess you have had more fun.

Um, even ignoring the fact the the Qianlong uses Longzhu spheres for ammo- which are much better used elsewhere-, the Lamplighter is still a better weapon unless you have an inadequate reactor. The Lamplighter does more damage and has a faster shot speed, while the Qianlong has a slightly higher WMD rating, and more range, neither of which make it a better dueling weapon.Chase wrote:Yes that is true but then there is no challenge to it. Even then, the lamplighter tears through Phobos at close range- which isn't even the easiest way to destroy them-, while no one is going to waste either longzhu spheres or the Gem of Sacrifice, on it.
All three items ultimately have an ultimate purpose, and you certainly don't need to use the Qianlong if you're already going to use the GoS. Which always seemed to me like a pretty cheap way to win anyway.

Yeah i guess you are right. The best thing about it is that it only uses 200mw. Allowing you to take it to your arch enemies in the early systems. But i personally like to betray the terra once in a while for a more interesting boss fight.

Very true indeed, i personally prefer not to waste them on weapons until much later in the game when you have a higher likely hood of being slaughtered by a sandstorm.
