So, I beat the iocrym, as I have a few times before, except this time I did not do the "wait on the planet" trick. (If you park over top of the planet, where the Iocrym can't hit you, he will eventually run out of disintegrator shells) So I beat him, and lo and behold, he has a bunch of disintegrator shells in his inventory. Now the gun itself is damaged, and I'm not sure how to fix it, but it occurred to me that since the shells are ammo, I might be able to manufacture more at the teraton fabricators. And sure enough, I put in the ingredients, and out came 9 disintegrator shells, worth 200 rin each.
Now, some caveats: D shells are level, I think, 14 ammo, so it will take a lot of "ingredients" to make a small number of shells. And of course, for quick money from a teraton, just blow them up and sell the loot to the next teraton.
But the ability to manufacture Disintegrator shells seemed neat, and I thought I'd share.
A new way to make rins from Teratons? (spoilers abound)

Ingredients? I have always failed with the fabricators.

**SPOILERS**
To use the teraton fabricator to duplicate ammo, feed three things to the fabricator:
- Misato sake improves it's "mood"
- Fuel of any sort gives it energy
- armor of any sort, even damaged, gives it material.
generically, (someone will come along shortly and correct me) the level of the fuel rod times the number of fuel rods equals added energy available , and the level of the armor times the number of those armors equals added material available , and the level of the the ammo times the number of ammo created equals the number of energy and the number of material consumed by the process.
so first, feed about 5 misato sakes to the fabricator.
If you keep track, you can produce exactly the right amount of ammo every time. If you can't be bothered (like me), empty your inventory into a box, then loot all the fuel rods in the box. dock with the fabricator, choose "drop item into pit" and hold down the enter key until all but ten of the fuel is gone (if you hit enter when there's nothing in your inventory, the game will crash) THEN loot from the box all the armor, dock, hit "drop" and hold down the enter key until almost all the armor is gone. THEN loot from the box 1 of the ammo you want to duplicate, drop it into the fabricator, and get 9-10 copies of the ammo back. drop another in, get 9-10 back. Repeat until the fabricator starts rejecting (crushing) your ammo.

It takes too much work to make a profit, I think (Disentigrator shells may be an exception).
The only time I have ever used it is when I didn't find a QAC in an older version and had to use the Kyrtin Launcher. In order to do so, I had to take the kyrtin pods from another Teraton (they appear in small amounts only) and multiply them.

Right, The most common use for the fabricator is to get a useable amount of ammo for a gun whose ammo is too rare to be useful otherwise. Thermo cannon shells, Plasma pods, and late game missles are good examples. Disintegrator shells sell for 200 rin each, but because they are level 14 (or so) ammo, it takes a lot of fuel and armor to make a small amount shells.
FYI: Longzhu spheres are considered fuel, not ammo, so throwing a longzhu sphere in a fabricator pit is not recommended.
