I may be the last one to realize this, but there's an exploit related to thioseptal.

During the huari storyline, someone tells you to go somewhere and gives you an item called thioseptal. If you use it, you will get either the navigation marker of the place you're supposed to go, or the navigation marker of the stargate you need to jump through if you are not in the star system of the place you're supposed to go.

Now here's the exploit: long after you've finished the huari storyline, the thioseptal still works, and it works anywhere in the game. if you use it while you are in the heretic system, it will point you to the hd1901 stargate. If you are in hd1901, it will point you to the dantallion stargate. If you are in a stargate before the huari location, using the thioseptal will point you to next stargate.

Now this is mostly useful if (A) you are before the huari location stargate or B) you have jumped to the end and are going through the stargates backwards. But the point remains: thioseptal can be used to find stargates throughout the game, saving you search time and or whatever other methods you might use to find them.

sooo, it points you to the next stargate that you still have to find, cool, nice exploit.

true, but when you were in Elysium, you ought to have access to the most late game stargates. Between most of them is only one or two gates and gates are not hidden very well.

What do you think about the endless stream of spawns ?

What about modding wandering spawns which dont attack the player directly ?

you can take my luck but you cant challenge me ;)
George should implement a Multiplayer function :D

In non nebula systems the gates are normally on some planet or asteroid in the inner or outer system.
To find them in nebula systems I sometimes were the spawns came from, sometimes I fly around the inner nebula to find hostile stations which gives me the location of the gate in most cases - if not its on the edge of a nebula in the outersystem.

Speaking of Elysium; if you activate the transpace jumpdrive over a stargate, you will be immediately taken to the Elysium system. I found this to be a useful feature when having to retreate from more powerful foes. It also ensures that you do not have to rely on rare Halo gems to get there...
