So i've played transcendence before, but never gotten close to beating it. Now I'm trying out RC2, and I am encountering a problem i've never had before... cash... I'm a few stations past sanctuary, with an invincible deflector, decent armour, and an omni. particle cannon, but am having trouble dealing with the ferians now that the warrior has been added, which removes my main source of income... Do the ferians have any point in the game other than to provide valuable minerals and fuel? What strategies do you guys have to deal with them?
Thanks,
-Bikeboy99
Noob Questions - Ferians...
Usually I let them alone because they don't attack me, but if the warriors are out I try to farm the warriors. Its a dangerous strategy, but that omni-particle should let you bombard them from a safe distance (assuming you have the targeting program installed), just take one at a time and be patient.
I'll throw myself in here... I have killed several Warriors and I have NOT seen a drop on their armor. What IS it? And I don't look in the files if that's what your answer is

My first mod, mostly done, still balance testing.

Found that out just a bit ago... started farming them again.
I just wish more Ringers would show up around before Point Juno. Only one shipyard and a few Teraton Nests. Blaaaah.
Edit - does anyone dealing in rins actually buy plasma torches and most higher armor types? I can't seem to find one that does...

Nope. Pretty sure it's only ores and ringer valuable items for the ringers, high level military weapons and 'soul' items for the teratons. Taikon does no buying. They're the logical ones to buy armor, but they're a 'dealership' station.
Maybe there should be a rin-economy Taikon trading-post. Normal Corporate TPs show up further along than they should, I think.

That sounds like a good idea...
I did as much scrounging as I could before Juno, and managed to get through that. Picked up a couple plasma cannons, R9, and stuff I could sell for enough rins in the early systems for the light Iocrym armor and regen nanos...
Anyway, a Taikon trading post? For all those things Ringers and Teratons DON'T buy?
Perhaps even a credits-to-rins exchange? High fees of course and perhaps only up to a certain amount, but having many excess credits and no rins is irksome...

Not a credit to rin exchange, no. That kind of defeats the point of having two seperate currencies. But a station that will buy everything, for a pittance. Same price scale as Thor's and Adventurer's, something like 20% of actual value.

Yes, Thor's usually pays the same as Black Market but will buy a wider range of equipment.Atarlost wrote:IIRC Thor's has one of the best buy prices for the stuff they stock.

Here's my stategy -
*throws Fossaman AND Retroactive at teh Ferian Warriors*

I actually use the "ima go hide behind that base or planet until something to bait comes along" strategy lately. Then just lead them to their DOOM!!

Fun little abuse while the Ferian warriors going after you no matter what glitch is in effect - If Ferians are near hostile factions and thus get caught in crossfire and spawn a warrior or two, sit on the colony and wait for them to hold still in front of you. Fun ensues.
Note, I found out Warriors are thin enough to go between X-ray laser shots straight on...

the closest thing i can think of for this is to sell all items at thor's and buy up teraton type weapons at adventurers. it's not at all cheap, but it makes for a semi-exchange basis. the new teraton exchange rate is rough. another thing i do is load up on longzhus and repair ares positrons - the highest selling, easiest to find teraton valuable weapon.Fossaman wrote:Not a credit to rin exchange, no. I think that may be the source of the ferian farming problem. They're the only good rin source so everyone has to farm either them or Ranx DNs at least a bit if they want to use the rin economy for much more than installing found equipment and buying the odd longzhu. There may need to be some mercenary missions in the rin economy.

That's actually a good reason to include some new stuff that will encourage late-game mining, just so there's an alternative method of making rins for those so inclined. Ringers are always happy to by valuable ores - they're just so hard to come by the way things are now that its not worth the trouble.
