I don't wanna spoil it... but yes.

They teach courses in starship technology. Engineering classes. Every semester they teach a different course.

They're teaching a class on shield technology this semester ... but my shield already has the Hiro enhancement on it, so maybe that's why I couldn't learn anything.

If you want to know exactly what the engineering students can do, copy&paste the following into a text editor to read it.


The engineering students will be able to enhance either shields, reactors or drives, determined randomly when the arcology is created.
If they are studying shields, they can be enhanced from 10% - 40% or increase resistance from either laser, kinetic or blast, or reduce shield power consumption by 20%.
If it's reactors they're studying, it enhances power output by 20%.
If it's drives, it gets enhanced. (I'm unsure exactly how it is affected though)
Alternatively, if your items are damaged, they will repair them.
