I played Transcendence years ago and remember developing a strategy to make money with Black Market, but don't remember the order to buy/sell, etc. Any suggestions?

Well, once you have a smugglers cargo hold, you can buy illegal goods and sell them at the Victorian nightclubs on various commonwealth stations. Don't sell them at the corporate trashcans; they don't pay nearly as much.

BM stations also pay you a significant amount for military items. So you can make a lot of money by clearing out the armories of commonwealth militia stations and selling the stuff to BM stations. You get a discount on goods on the militia stations as you advance in rank. So you want to wait until you are max rank.

Oh, you can also get free equipment from the BM stations as you advance in rank. The easiest way to advance in rank is just to buy lots of their stuff. I've never tried the missions.

Victorian pays the most, right?

Installed illegal/millitary equipment dosn't show up on customs scans. Just so you know.
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

Yeah, the victorian nightclub pays more than corporate trashcans, which pay more than BM stations.

Interestingly, while trashcans don't pay as much for pharmaceutical illegals, they will buy illegal equipment while the nightclub won't. So for the two illegal pieces of equipment in the game, it's the best place to sell.

Mind, your first purchase of illegals for the Victorian Club (Commonwealth stations have these clubs, the Art Sector at St. K) should be a lot in order to get the attention of the Mob Boss. You will have to purchase and the sell then return to a black market and you will be 'asked' to be seen by Da' Boss.

I personally have not made that much money buying from the black market and selling, I do it just to get the black market 'quests'. I get most of my illegal stuff from those transport guys who go out to the pirates and other 'enemy' NPC's those transports can be green (friendly) but many of them are transporting illegal stuff that you can sell at V Club or other places.

The trigger for getting attention from the B.M. Station Boss---- a single large buy, or a total of smaller buys? And what's the amount needed?

I'm pretty sure it's a total of smaller buys, but I don't know exactly how much you need to buy to get the different promotions. I tried looking through the BM XML, but I didn't get anywhere.
