So, I'm on a new game of Trans, using the freighter and I'm entering Rigel Aurelias. Now, I'm down on my luck - my shield is totalled, my armour is in shreds and I am forced to spend all my credits to fix said armour, leaving me with 187 credits.

With nothing to do in the system, I left for the next one, assuming my death would soon come swiftly.

Then - I had the best luck out. I ran into a Marauder getting shot up, so I used my last few Stilletto missiles to destroy it and then I went to loot it. *SWEET HALLELUJAH!* I found a Nova-100 in good condition, an omni-directional turbolaser (when I was just using regular omni laser) and a few other things. So, I fled back to Rigel and choes to install the Nova-100, rather than sell it, thus allowing me to sell my old Nova-25. I swapped my omni weapons around and sold everything I didn't need.

Now, the story doesn't end here. I still had around 3000 creds left, so I went to system again, flew past the old marauder wreck and found a corporate ice station. I bought everything I could and went back to Rigel and sold it all to the Corporations. With an account balance of around 5K, I then upgraded my armour to some sweet level V stuff and with confidence this time, flew back in new system.

SO. Anyone else got a 'lucky' story, where they thought the game was over and then they suddenly got into a lucky streak?

Is having 2 million cash before Eta Ceti considered lucky?

I have gotten a Nova-50 in Eridani once, from a Centauri camp, but nothing like what you got.

I once found a CSC by 2 stargates, with a ventauri colony somewhere outwards, so I waited as around 50 ventari lost their lives taking out a CSC. I go around 7 250mw reactors, mega weapons, missiles, and ended up earning several million in one system.

I once had a system with everything good - CSC, Ringers, Miltia (for some reason).

Gusoku armor+ centauri nanos in eridani, S500 not long after that.

Gun were not so easy.

I've also had a terrible game turn good numerous times.

Randomly bought a shield generator that happened to be an alien device, which was better than what I was actually planning on buying.

It's strong, would not say what it is. Main feature is that it levels up anytime you want it to, so it would scale according to your engine and you wouldn't need any other shield generator later in the game.

Why in the universe would you use centauri nanos on level VII armor? It only takes 8% damage from laser/kinetic anyway.

asam> That's the Jotun. It's not particularly strong for a level IX shield, and it only scales in HP, not regeneration. It's not BAD of course, it just doesn't compare favorably in power use.

"These nanomachines weave a diamond matrix through the target material. Armor that has been treated in this way will be more resistant to laser and impact damage." Somewhere around +600% to each I think. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything noticeable to gosaku, but I don't really understand enhancements.

This was back when shields had been nerfed, but armor hadn't been boosted. At that point, centauri nanos were a really useful thing for Gusoku.

Plus it's easy to get the stuff off later. :P

And then I think my playthrough tonight on the train totally trumped that even if I completely fell flat on my face in my original objective (reproducing the docking bug) as I got distracted by my epic playthrough.

I'm too lazy to type it all out here, so I'll just copy+paste irc.
[22:31] <Azar_Wolf> so I loaded up the game
[22:31] <Azar_Wolf> glanced at my inventory to see where I was, then up at the LRS
[22:31] <Azar_Wolf> on the map, I saw a nearby BM shipyard
[22:32] <Azar_Wolf> so I went to check out its stock, and flew by some hauri
[22:32] <Azar_Wolf> they got mad, and angered the nearby BM station (which they were technically neutral with)
[22:32] <Azar_Wolf> causing the BM defenders to blow up the hauri.
[22:32] <Azar_Wolf> I got a whopping TWENTY SEVEN superconducting shields out of that :D\
[22:33] <Azar_Wolf> that came out to be nearly 200kCr after I sold at thors
[22:33] <Azar_Wolf> anyways, I now had 450kCr
[22:34] <Azar_Wolf> So I decided to splurge at an adv. outfitters that had awesome Octocarbide! (keep in mind this is still the system before jiang's star XD)
[22:34] <Azar_Wolf> And then I got myself a nifty new 250MW reactor
[22:34] <Azar_Wolf> which I promptly enhanced to 300MW
[22:35] <Azar_Wolf> I also bought an invincible which I used my hiro rom on
[22:35] <Azar_Wolf> resulting in me being... invinicible :D
[22:35] <Azar_Wolf> (especially in combinition with the octocarbide)
[22:35] <Azar_Wolf> I also discovered that akan 600's are awesome for turning a profit in akan shells
[22:36] <Azar_Wolf> They can kill ranx ships with astounding speed, allowing you to harvest all of their shells
[22:36] <Azar_Wolf> I also looted a drawg behemoth gun
[22:36] <Azar_Wolf> which I found was also a rather nice weapon
[22:37] <Azar_Wolf> anyways, my akan 600 is +30% atm
[22:37] <Azar_Wolf> I have 4 or 5 tritium injectors too
[22:38] <Azar_Wolf> I ditched the urak howitzer which was getting rather past its lifetime to replace it with the behemoth gun
[22:38] <Azar_Wolf> I also ditched the particle accelerator & the dual particle cannons
[22:39] <Azar_Wolf> Also, the akan 600 is superb for ventari farming
[22:39] * Azar_Wolf does loops to dodge their projectiles while continuously firing at them
[22:39] <Azar_Wolf> the ventari don't stand a chance because of their tendancy to rush head-on
[22:40] <Azar_Wolf> Head On! apply directly to forehead!
[22:40] <Azar_Wolf> ok, now that the obligatory reference is done
[22:40] <Azar_Wolf> back to the story
[22:40] <Azar_Wolf> ummm, so lets wee, what else
[22:40] <Azar_Wolf> *See
[22:41] <Azar_Wolf> umm, then I managed to get a mission CSC (who refuses to give missions aside from a single one at the start >.<) and a medical CSC
[22:41] <Azar_Wolf> both of which are convenient for repairing my armor
[22:41] <Azar_Wolf> I also have 3kRin, mostly from selling random ore I came across to some ringers, but its not really pressing atm that I do this.
[22:42] * Azar_Wolf is focusing on getting ludicrous quantities of credits & awesome equipment
[22:42] <Azar_Wolf> So I'm looking at a 500MW reactor which I can then boost to 600 with my heliotrope fuel stash
[22:42] <Azar_Wolf> and then a nice weapon
[22:43] <Azar_Wolf> probably a fusionfire
[22:43] <Azar_Wolf> + speedloader
[22:43] <Azar_Wolf> I also have piles of map roms, 8 longzhu's, random enhancers, some mil map roms
[22:44] <Azar_Wolf> and a system with nothing but rogue fleet, penitents, and a very dense cluster of friendlies (mission CSC, 2x trading posts with epic defenders, adv. outfitters)
[22:44] <Azar_Wolf> aroudn the gate
[22:44] <Azar_Wolf> I also managed to befriend the hauri it seems
[22:45] <Azar_Wolf> ok, well, time for me to sleep :D
[22:45] <Azar_Wolf> gn everyone

In my current game, I still have the corporate trading posts in the star system before Point Juno.

And is being able to become fleet commander with only an x-ray laser cannon and NAMI missile launcher considered lucky?(or plainly tactical cause when that ares Phobos ship thingy spawned in a mission, I just hide behind friendly stations until they're destroyed by the corporate enforcer ship thingy and I end up getting the station's loots)

no, they give +Laser +Kinetic to armor.
regenerating nanos repair and continue to repair
repairing nanos just repair damage when used
